It’s an FFF centric world after all
J. Ray Runyon, CSO, SOLVE Research and Consultancy
Field flow fractionation (FFF) is a premier technology for investigating nanoscale and microscale analytes. A well designed FFF centric strategy is invaluable for comprehensive characterization of monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, ribosomes, polysaccharides, nanoparticles, excipients and other biopharmaceutical relevant analytes. This poster presents two case studies in which FFF played a vital role in: 1) the 15-fold increase in yield of a recombinant protein and 2) the development of processing procedures to tailor the properties of a polysaccharide material. Tragically FFF remains vastly under-utilized despite the valuable data and information it can provide along the entire product development pathway. Initial upfront and continuing costs for internalization of FFF capabilities can often be allocated more productively. This poster will also discuss relevant strategies for small and medium sized businesses on tight budgets to capitalize on FFF technology and expertise.
